I am a San Diego Native and have been a professional photographer for more than 25 years, working at such local outlets as XETV Channel 6, SignOnSanDiego.com, The San Diego Union-Tribune (now U-T San Diego) and Microsoft’s sidewalk.com, among others. I have more than 15 years’ experience in video shooting, web production and editing.
After many years as an award-winning editorial photographer and multimedia editor, I began working for myself creating Marc Balanky Photography, and expanding into video and web services.
When I am not shooting photos and video, or creating WordPress websites, I am laughing with my two young boys, supporting local music and testing new recipes in my kitchen.

From 1999 to 2010, I was the Multimedia Editor at SignOnSanDiego.com, the website of The San Diego Union-Tribune, where I shot and edited both photographs and video, and oversaw a team of multimedia journalists. I also helped to conceptualize, build and manage a robust multimedia content management system, and online radio studio and stations.
Prior to joining SignOnSanDiego.com, I was Photo Editor at sidewalk.com, a city guide by Microsoft Corp., where I was responsible for shooting, procuring and managing photos for Sidewalk’s award-winning San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange County websites.
